Evan’s Favorite Things: 2017

Most of you probably know by now, but I LOVE giving to others. It just makes my heart feel all warm and fuzzy. Who doesn’t love to see others smiles? With it officially being Christmas Eve! The wait is finally over– My 2017 Favorite Things are here. We took a year office, but I’m back with some of the BEST  products yet.

Oh, and just so we’re clear, these really are my most FAVORITE THINGS. It’s not just a random bunch of goodies I’ve selected and labeled “Favorite Things”. I couldn’t live without some of these products. Ok, maybe I could, but you know what I mean.

Up first is my ALL TIME FAVORITE Candle. This Archipelago “Positano” candle  retails for $19.50 and is sold locally at Candle Cabin in Montgomery or you can purchase online directly from their site.  If you know me, you know I am a candle snob. Just ask my roommates. The White Nectarine, Persimmon, Pomegranate key notes are just some of my favorite scents together. This is one of the only candles I burn at home and at my office. I have been know to buy an entire case at a time. I promise you want the disappointed.

Most of you are probably familiar with the movie “Wonder” starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, but the book is even better. I cried and cried like a baby. My friend introduced me to this book about 2 years ago or so and I couldn’t put it down. If you don’t fall in love with Auggie something is wrong with you and you should probably see a doctor. Wonder tells the story about boy with facial differences who enters fifth grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. Every parent should read this with their kiddos. You will be encouraged by the message of hope that is in the book.  Yes, there is hope, always hope, and YOU can overcome what seems like insurmountable challenges. It’s ok to be different and remember to always “choose kind”.

My grandmother recently asked me “Why does your iPhone have a little knob on it?”,  I told her it was the best little knob there ever was. If you haven’t heard of a PopSocket, you’re probably living under a rock– Everyone has one. Originally they were indeed to be used with different iPhone Plus models, but more recently have almost become a fashion accessory.  They certainly make life easier when having a little mini iPad as a phone (iPhone 7 Plus)  They come in an array of colors, patterns and styles. They also have a car mount that the pop socket just slides down into for hands free driving. This little lifesaver retails for only $10.00.

Probably my ALL TIME FAVORITE THING OF FAVORITE THINGS. This product is so GOOD my hair stylist started carrying it in her salon. Mister Pompadour is one of the most under rated mens hair product lines out on the market. I don’t leave home with using these products. From the Peppermint Shampoo and Conditioner to the texture powder and beeswax sculpting putty,  if you are in need of a gift for the fella in your life look no further, this is it. Guys, you have to try this product. The set retails for $70.00.

Raise your hand if you turn your pillow over 100 times through the middle of the night so you can lay our head on the cold side?!? I know I do, and if you do too then this is the pillow for you. The Malouf  Carbon Cool pillow retails for $239.00 and is worth every penny. It’s made of graphite-infused memory foam which helps“creates a pathway that naturally moves heat away from the body” causing the pillow to remain cool at all times. I take it with me everywhere. I don’t travel without it.

Evan & Company Fall Mantle Decor

Hey Y’all! Happy Wednesday. Can you believe it’s starting to actually feel like fall outside. I have to admit, I’m a horrible person when it comes to decorating for the holidays. I guess I’m always busy helping clients I tend to neglect my home and office. So this year, I decided I was going to jazz up our office mantle for the fall. It’s the focal point of our consultation space, so it need to POP.

I used a collection of pumpkins, pinecones, greenery and taper candles. Most of these things I had around the office, minus the pumpkins of course. I’m still trying to figure out what I used the gold candles for.  Maybe it will hit me soon. I know I collected the brass candle holders from different thrift stores around the area.

The pumpkins came home with me from my visit to Niceville, FL. If you’re in the area, stop by– the students at Crosspoint United Methodist host a pumpkin patch as a yearly  fundraiser. Of course if you can’t make it there, you can also check your local farmers market.

It’s a pretty simple set up. I promise anyone can do it.  Since it was going to be a focal point in our office, I wanted to keep with our brand colors; Grey and White. Luckily I had first dibs on those pretty grey pumpkins. They’re PERFECT. I used seeded eucalyptus and Italian Ruscus to soften the harsh lines of the pumpkins. I added some pinecones for texture and contrast. I also found some faux dusty miller laying around the office that I pick up from our local craft store and those it was another great touch of grey.

If you haven’t already pulled your fall decor out of the attic, hop to it. I had a blast being creative for a minutes yesterday morning. I Can’t wait to see what you come up with– If posting on social media use the hashtag #EGCfallmantle, I’d LOVE to see what you create.

Evan’s Favorite Things– Day 5

2015-12-14_0004 I know, I know. I’m a couple days behind in posting this. My deepest apologies. My trip to New Orleans was much more fast paced than I expected. Friday (the original day this post was scheduled for) was go, go go with a full day of site seeing, eating and a fancy wedding.

Speaking of New Orleans…Today’s Favorite Thing is one that I took with me on my trip. Every southern gentleman needs a monogrammed duffle bag, right? I LOVE my chocolate brown rolling duffle from You Name It! Their located in Montgomery, Alabama across from Faulkner University. The bag retails for $78.00. View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/egcchristmas Last but not least, and Possibly my most Favorite Thing… Greater by Steven Furtick, lead pastor of Elevation Church in North Carolina. Steven states that “most believers aren’t in danger of ruining their lives. They’re facing a danger far greater: wasting them”.  I couldn’t agree more. Often times we find ourselves getting stuck in boring, powerless life ruts and are mislead lead into thinking that’s what Christ has called us too. Thankfully that’s not the case.  “Baseline living is not okay. Not for a believer in Jesus. There’s a price to pay for Christian complacency” say Furtrick. The book expands the the biblical story of Elisha to give you the confidence to know that nothing is impossible with God, the clarity to see what step is next.

This book is a quick and easy read. It’s almost impossible not to read through the book in a couple of day. I had to pace myself so I could really think about the points and arguments he was making. If you’re looking for a book with some instant take home points that you can apply the moment you open this book, than this is the one for you. As I was reading it, I thought of several folks I know would benefit from the read.  View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/egcchristmas To enter the last day of Evan’s Favorite Things is simple.
