The Ultimate Tailgate Party

After months and months of waiting, the wait finally over. Football season is here! If you’re from the South you know just how big of a deal college football is. As most of you know, I could care less about football. I still don’t fully understand how the game is played. But that doesn’t matter. It doesn’t stop me from throwing one heck of a tailgate party.

Last week I was invited on WSFA’s Alabama Live for a quick segment on how to plan the Ultimate Tailgate Party. If you missed it, you can watch it HERE. We could talk all day long about how to throw a party, but some many people are visual learners like myself, so I decided to style a mock tailgate party. I called my friend Lauren at Milly Photography to capture it all.  2016-09-25_0007 When planning any event, wedding or party there are always a few MUST-HAVES. A tailgate party is no exception. We’ve come up with 3 things that are essential for any tailgate party. The first, You can’t have the proper tailgate party without Entertainment. Wether that’s a game of corn hole, tossing the football on the lawn or cranking up the music. It’s a must! 2016-09-26_0001 Next, you can’t have a tailgate party without you team spirit. Bring you shakers, table clothes, flags and foam fingers. It certainly adds to the festive table decor.  2016-09-25_0002 2016-09-25_0016 2016-09-25_0001 I’m the type of person that will spend extra money on fancy paper plates or cute striped straws, but I’ll buy a cheap lawn chair to save a few bucks. I’m a party planner, don’t judge me! That’s exactly what I did here– We picked up a $6.00 chair from Wal-Mart instead of purchasing one of those fancy $50.00 legit team chairs. I found these inexpensive pillows from the “Dollar Spot” at Target and with a little iron on transfer, I created a custom pillow for under $10.00. Super easy! ANYONE can do it.  2016-09-25_0014 Last but not least. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to throw a tailgate party without the proper food and drink. BBQ sliders, wings and chicken fingers are a few of my favorite easy pick-up foods. But I was recently introduced to a quick and easy sausage dip that is TO DIE FOR. You HAVE to try it. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Sausage Dip

(2) 8 Ounce Cream Cheese | 1 Cup Sour Cream | 2 Cups grated cheddar cheese | 1lb of Ground Sausage | 1 can of Diced Green Chiles

*Brown and drain sausage. Mix with all other ingredients. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

If you choose to wash it down with a cocktail, we suggest doing it with a little team spirit, of course. Our friend and one of our favorite past brides, Jean helped us round up a few recipes that are sure to impress your tailgating guests. For the Auburn Fan….

Aubie Palmer Cocktail:

1.5 Old Forester Bourbon  | 1.5 Lemonade | Top off w/ Milos Sweet Tea

2016-09-26_0002 and of course, we can’t leave the Alabama fan out. A yummy fruity drink fits them properly, I think.

Yellowhammer Cocktail:

3/4 oz. White Rum | 3/4 oz. Coconut Rum | 1/2 oz. amaretto | 2 oz. orange juice | 2 oz. pineapple juice

2016-09-26_0003 and for those that choose to have a classic game soda, barqs glass bottle root beer will hit the spot.  2016-09-25_0008 2016-09-25_0005 After all those yummy eats and drinks, you have to have a quick sweet treat before entering the stadium. We stopped by Liger’s bakery for those. You can’t go wrong with THE BEST petite fours in town. Their also famous for those mint thumbprint cookies, too, but my personal fave….the Iced Sugar Cookies.  2016-09-25_0012 2016-09-26_0004 As promised on WSFA’s Alabama Live, I’m giving away a pair of tickets to the AUBURN vs. ALABAMA A&M Homecoming game. It’s super easy to win– all you have to do is comment this post. We’ll select a winner Saturday, October 8th. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. A for making this giveaway possible.  2016-09-25_0009 HUGE thanks to Joyce Hubbard for letting us borrow her Auburn Orange truck. It was PERFECT! And of course, my Granny. Those Liger’s goodies wouldn’t have brought themselves. You’re the BEST!

50

Saturday, June 6th marked a HUGE millstone for Evan and Company. We celebrated our 50th Wedding. It’s hard to believe that 2 years ago I decided to leave my full time job and take a leap of faith. View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/evans50 I’m not gonna lie, it’s been tough. Really tough. Running a business is hard. Being a boss is hard. Hustling to make ends meet it hard but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Being able to live out my dream is feeling like no other. If you would’ve asked be 3 years ago if I thought I would be were I am today, I would’ve told you No. Maybe even a HECK NO. I was content shooting weddings (as a photographer) and being a full time studio manager at KBP.  View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/evans50 I had always dream of running  by own business. Mom worked briefly in a flower shop when I was younger, so I grew up tagging along some afternoons. My sister is an incredible artist. She can draw and paint like nobodies business and my Dad is a handy carpenter/builder/Mr. Fix-It, so I always imagined that my career path would in someway be creative, but no necessarily a floral and event designer.  View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/evans50 In honor of our 50th Wedding we pulled together a super fun shoot to celebrate. Complete with champagne, glittery hats, party horns a TONS of balloons. View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/evans50 We have some pretty exciting things in the works for Evan and Company and can’t wait to share them with you guys. If all goes at planned our NEW (teeny tiny) retail space should be opened (Fingers Crossed) by July.  View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/evans50 Thanks to everyone from the bottom of my heart who has shared in my journey, cheered me on and continued to support and believe in me. I know it sounds cliche, but it means more than you know. I couldn’t do what I do without the FANTASTIC clients that put their trust in us. Happy 50th Evan and Co.  View More: http://nickdrollette.pass.us/evans50

EGC RENOVATES

As I mentioned in Wednesdays post we are giving the Evan and Company offices a much needed face lift.  March 2015 will be 2 years that we have been occupying the space and it’s long over due for a “overhaul”. Most of the design elements were rushed and last minute in efforts to make the space usable and inviting for client meetings.

This is how our front “lobby” looks now. Remember this is the BEFORE. I can’t wait to get that mantle installed too.  2014-11-06_0001 We use the space for initial consults with new clients and naps when we have to pull all nighters. 😉  It certainly serves its purpose but can most definitely look a million times better. I think one of my favorite pieces in the space is that little mustard yellow cabinet over there in the corner. I’m obsessed with yellow. It’s my all FAVORITE color. I like it so much Brian tried to talk me into painting an accent wall yellow, but I didn’t want to go that far.  2014-11-06_0002 I knew wanted a white sofa from Day 1. Of course that called for a quick trip to ATL and Ikea. But that quickly became a “why did I pick this” piece after we got it back and in the office. I think it might be getting a quick fix too. Brian has a plan, well kind of, I think! 😉 I do LOVE my Target arm chairs though. They’re so comfy. Unfortunately they will be going. Who wants to buy a pair of chairs? I’m still unsure why I wanted to be an interior designer, this is too intense for me. Of course you can’t have a makeover without paint, right? Thankfully Brian sent me in with some colors to look at. I spent an hour in the Benjamin Moore store staring at those paint samples. Some of them, I’m not exactly sure what he was thinking, others…. I think we might have a winner. 2014-11-06_0004 My best friend Andrew is heading over this weekend to help a brother out. He’s going to paint a few nooks and crannies for us. Can you guess what colors we chose? Check back on Tuesday to see the process. I’m SO EXCITED!!!

Michael and Elyse

Ok! Before I begin I must warn you– this couple is SMOKIN’ HOT! Ok you’ve been warned….

I remember sitting down to meet with Elyse, her Mom and best friend Amanda at Starbucks (pre- office days) just like it was yesterday!  The entire meeting I was praying in my head that she would hire me. Why? They’re genuine personalities. From the moment I met Elyse and Mrs. Cindy I knew I wanted to work with them. Not only because  it was going to be a “good wedding”, but I knew I would be blessed in return.

The Darnell family is pure joy. I don’t think I have ever laughed harder, cried with someone and been mad all in the same day. Mr. Noel and Mrs. Cindy wanted nothing but the best for their daughter’s big day and it certainly showed. Elyse, her brother and sister are lucky to call them parents. I can’t say it enough, but they’re two of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Oh, and Mrs. Cindy makes a mean strawberry cake. I’ve already but in an order for my birthday! 😉

Welcome to Darnell Mountain.
