Evan & Company Fall Mantle Decor

Hey Y’all! Happy Wednesday. Can you believe it’s starting to actually feel like fall outside. I have to admit, I’m a horrible person when it comes to decorating for the holidays. I guess I’m always busy helping clients I tend to neglect my home and office. So this year, I decided I was going to jazz up our office mantle for the fall. It’s the focal point of our consultation space, so it need to POP.

I used a collection of pumpkins, pinecones, greenery and taper candles. Most of these things I had around the office, minus the pumpkins of course. I’m still trying to figure out what I used the gold candles for.  Maybe it will hit me soon. I know I collected the brass candle holders from different thrift stores around the area.

The pumpkins came home with me from my visit to Niceville, FL. If you’re in the area, stop by– the students at Crosspoint United Methodist host a pumpkin patch as a yearly  fundraiser. Of course if you can’t make it there, you can also check your local farmers market.

It’s a pretty simple set up. I promise anyone can do it.  Since it was going to be a focal point in our office, I wanted to keep with our brand colors; Grey and White. Luckily I had first dibs on those pretty grey pumpkins. They’re PERFECT. I used seeded eucalyptus and Italian Ruscus to soften the harsh lines of the pumpkins. I added some pinecones for texture and contrast. I also found some faux dusty miller laying around the office that I pick up from our local craft store and those it was another great touch of grey.

If you haven’t already pulled your fall decor out of the attic, hop to it. I had a blast being creative for a minutes yesterday morning. I Can’t wait to see what you come up with– If posting on social media use the hashtag #EGCfallmantle, I’d LOVE to see what you create.

The Ultimate Tailgate Party

After months and months of waiting, the wait finally over. Football season is here! If you’re from the South you know just how big of a deal college football is. As most of you know, I could care less about football. I still don’t fully understand how the game is played. But that doesn’t matter. It doesn’t stop me from throwing one heck of a tailgate party.

Last week I was invited on WSFA’s Alabama Live for a quick segment on how to plan the Ultimate Tailgate Party. If you missed it, you can watch it HERE. We could talk all day long about how to throw a party, but some many people are visual learners like myself, so I decided to style a mock tailgate party. I called my friend Lauren at Milly Photography to capture it all.  2016-09-25_0007 When planning any event, wedding or party there are always a few MUST-HAVES. A tailgate party is no exception. We’ve come up with 3 things that are essential for any tailgate party. The first, You can’t have the proper tailgate party without Entertainment. Wether that’s a game of corn hole, tossing the football on the lawn or cranking up the music. It’s a must! 2016-09-26_0001 Next, you can’t have a tailgate party without you team spirit. Bring you shakers, table clothes, flags and foam fingers. It certainly adds to the festive table decor.  2016-09-25_0002 2016-09-25_0016 2016-09-25_0001 I’m the type of person that will spend extra money on fancy paper plates or cute striped straws, but I’ll buy a cheap lawn chair to save a few bucks. I’m a party planner, don’t judge me! That’s exactly what I did here– We picked up a $6.00 chair from Wal-Mart instead of purchasing one of those fancy $50.00 legit team chairs. I found these inexpensive pillows from the “Dollar Spot” at Target and with a little iron on transfer, I created a custom pillow for under $10.00. Super easy! ANYONE can do it.  2016-09-25_0014 Last but not least. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to throw a tailgate party without the proper food and drink. BBQ sliders, wings and chicken fingers are a few of my favorite easy pick-up foods. But I was recently introduced to a quick and easy sausage dip that is TO DIE FOR. You HAVE to try it. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Sausage Dip

(2) 8 Ounce Cream Cheese | 1 Cup Sour Cream | 2 Cups grated cheddar cheese | 1lb of Ground Sausage | 1 can of Diced Green Chiles

*Brown and drain sausage. Mix with all other ingredients. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

If you choose to wash it down with a cocktail, we suggest doing it with a little team spirit, of course. Our friend and one of our favorite past brides, Jean helped us round up a few recipes that are sure to impress your tailgating guests. For the Auburn Fan….

Aubie Palmer Cocktail:

1.5 Old Forester Bourbon  | 1.5 Lemonade | Top off w/ Milos Sweet Tea

2016-09-26_0002 and of course, we can’t leave the Alabama fan out. A yummy fruity drink fits them properly, I think.

Yellowhammer Cocktail:

3/4 oz. White Rum | 3/4 oz. Coconut Rum | 1/2 oz. amaretto | 2 oz. orange juice | 2 oz. pineapple juice

2016-09-26_0003 and for those that choose to have a classic game soda, barqs glass bottle root beer will hit the spot.  2016-09-25_0008 2016-09-25_0005 After all those yummy eats and drinks, you have to have a quick sweet treat before entering the stadium. We stopped by Liger’s bakery for those. You can’t go wrong with THE BEST petite fours in town. Their also famous for those mint thumbprint cookies, too, but my personal fave….the Iced Sugar Cookies.  2016-09-25_0012 2016-09-26_0004 As promised on WSFA’s Alabama Live, I’m giving away a pair of tickets to the AUBURN vs. ALABAMA A&M Homecoming game. It’s super easy to win– all you have to do is comment this post. We’ll select a winner Saturday, October 8th. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. A for making this giveaway possible.  2016-09-25_0009 HUGE thanks to Joyce Hubbard for letting us borrow her Auburn Orange truck. It was PERFECT! And of course, my Granny. Those Liger’s goodies wouldn’t have brought themselves. You’re the BEST!

DIY Halloween Costumes

Can you believe halloween is exactly a week away? Where has this year gone?! I’m gonna need 2014 to slow down. In the spirt of the upcoming holiday my always willing assistant, Laura and I decided (well, I kind of made her) it would be fun to pull together some quick and simple DIY Halloween Costumes.

If you’re like us, we could honestly care less about the spooky holiday. But of course this is the only time of the year you have an excuse to go to a costume party. I recently came across and image online of an elaborate Ring Master and Giraffe costume, I LOVED it so much I figured we could dumb it down a bit and make is easy and simple of all you DIY’ers that are on tight budgets and crazy timelines.   2014-10-23_0003 Meet Georgetta the giraffe and RingMaster Bruno. 2014-10-23_0004 Laura had her yellow dress hanging in her closet, so the only addition we needed to complete her costume was this CRAZY AWESOME giraffe balloon “hat” from Kreative Moments. Can you guess how much it cost?!?!?! ONLY $5.00. That’s a steal of the deal and certainly not something anyone else is going to be wearing.

As for my costume, I had just about everything in my closet as well. The only thing I picked up was my blazer from discount store and the $6.00 top hat from Party City (I added the red ribbon accent). All in all the most expensive part of both costumes is the balloons in my hand and of course you wouldn’t necessarily need 17 of them, we just thought it added to the photo. 😉 By the time it was said and done, we spent $25.00 on BOTH costumes. I know, it’s cray cray!

We can’t wait to see all of the DIY costumes next week. If you’re making your own costume, BE SURE to use the hashtag #EGCDIY, we’d love to see what you come up with. We’ll be picking one lucky winner who will be a recipient of a $25.00 gift card to Hobby Lobby, a DIY’ers playground. Happy Costuming.

#collinsturnsone

Hello World! How’s it been going? I know, I know. I’m a horrible blogger. It’s been a while but things have been going full force around here. Between weddings and events there is no time breath. In honor of my absence I thought you guys deserved to see something  oozed loads and loads of cuteness. Are you ready?!

3 Weeks ago I had the pleasure of planning a 1st Birthday for the most adorable little one year old, Collins Elizabeth. (You Might remember her from this post or this one.) When her Dad text me about planning the party, there was only one response “Of course”. So we sat out for a night of planning all things #collinsturnsone. I will always remember that night, not because KC cooked a delicious meal, or we dreamt up over the top ideas, or Zoe ran to the door screaming “Mr. Evan, Mr. Evan” when I arrived but because the power was out. YUP! We planned a birthday party in the dark with our iPhone Flashlights and mason jar candles. I’m telling you folks I live a glamorous life. 😉 I think the hardest part of the power being out was no wifi, which meant no Pinterest. But as any true professional we pushed through it and created a day that will forever be special. Collins may not remember it now but she’ll smile from ear to ear one day when she looks back on all of the pictures.

Below are a few of those images from the Collins big day. THANK YOU, THANK YOU to Maria of Lola Photography and Portrait Studio  for coming out to document this special occasion for #thegodwingang.

HUGE Shout Out to my extremely talented graphic designer Amanda Claybrook Young for designing these invites. They were perfect! Isn’t latter lettering perfect? My friend Lindsey Ryll lettered the envelope. 2014-03-23_0009 a party guest told me, “it looks like it’s straight off of Pinterest”. That’s a compliment, right? 2014-03-23_0004 Mini milk bottles with stripe straws= Perfection. The doughnut tree is always a fun way to add height to your table. Give it some visual interest so everything is sitting flat on a tray.  2014-03-23_0001 These cookies were just over the top! So perfect and yummy! Thanks to my sweet Instagram follower Lorraine for sending these over.  2014-03-23_0008 2014-03-23_0003 Let’s have a moment of silence for Acres of Hope table. This custom farmhouse table is everything. Perfect for lots of party guest!  2014-03-23_0007 2014-03-23_0012 Another fun piece lettered by my friend Lindsey Ryll. Fun little detail that can also be repurposed and used as art in Collins bedroom. Oh and YES AMERICA, those are carnations. They can be beautiful! I PROMISE!  2014-03-23_0010 2014-03-23_0011 “Now Mr. Evan, do you really think I am going to keep that on my head?”  Cute little party hat just Collin’s size that we created with some scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby.  2014-03-23_0006 2014-03-23_0005 Now that’s one freakin’ adorable family, right?  2014-03-23_0002 No party is complete without a few iPhone pics, right?!? Here are a few from my #collinsturnsone collection.  2014-03-23_0013 It’s been almost 3 years since I met JW and his family and I am beyond grateful that God has allowed our paths to cross. Thank you for opening your home and inviting me in as family. It’s truly an honor to be a part of such special memories in your family’s life. Oh and I’ll take ya up on that lunch raincheck anyway! 😉
