Christmas Mantle

Happy Monday! Can you believe Christmas is 7 days away?! I’m freaking out– I haven’t bought the first gift. As a designer sometimes we are SO busy helping others that time just flies right on by. Although I did catch enough of a break to spruce up our office a bit for the holidays.

These gray and white gingham pillows where were it all started. I never go into Kirklands and just happened to visit their new location in our town, once I was in there I fell in love. They’re the perfect mix of Evan and Company and comfort. BTW, those pillows are on sale for $13.99 this week.

The mantel is the focal point of our office space. My desk sits in front of it and clients face it each time they come in. As always I wanted to create something that was brand cohesive and fun so I pulled together shades of gray, white and silver. Of course it had to match our pillows too.

A mixture of silver ribbon, taper and pillar candles, wrapped gift boxes and silver ball ornaments made up this years holiday mantle. These are mostly things I had around the office from years of christmas decor and collecting.

My tree is an artificial 6ft slim fraser fur that I actually picked up from Wal-mart about 3 years ago. I know, don’t judge me. But it was cheap and I was desperate and Wal-Mart was right there. I think my favorite addition are the white planter boxes we acquired from an event this past November. Doesn’t it make the perfect “tree skit/ stand”?!?

The tree has a about 4 rolls of ribbon on it,  an assortment of ornaments and picks. Each year I collect more and more stuff. The ornaments were purchased from Hobby Lobby a several years ago and the ribbon and picks are from a local floral outlet.

It’s certainly makes me smile each time I walk into work. What do you think? Have you thought of some ways to incorporate some over these ideas into your home of office decor next year?

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to come back later this afternoon for a Christmas Tradition that we skipped last year, but   you’ll want to be a part of this year.

Oh and for those of you that are curious I linked some of my office furnishings here. They’re on sale this week too: Desk  Office Chair | Arm Chairs

Evan’s Favorite Things– Day 2

HOLY MOLY! You guys don’t play! You came to win! So fun watching all the comments and IG posts roll in yesterday.

If you were like the rest of America you were probably watching the Adele special on NBC last night. If you weren’t you can leave now. I watched it twice, it was that good. Today’s giveaway is one of the BEST things that happened in 2015. If you see me driving down the freeway, you’ll more than likely  catch me jamming out to Adele’s newest album “25”. It has been at the top of the charts for weeks and her single “Hello” broke every record possible in the music industry. It had the biggest Sales Week for a single since Elton John’s Princess Diana Tribute in 1997 and it was the first song ever to sell 1 million downloads in a week. I’m in love with every song on this album. I’ve sang my little heart out an even cried too. You won’t be disappointed. She just released tour dates for her North American tour next year. DIY French Fry Halloween Costume

I’ll always pick French Fries… ask any of my friends, it never fails. No matter where we are! McDonalds or a 5-Star restaurant…I MUST HAVE French Fries. I’ll take a side of ranch too. Thanks! 2015-10-29_0005 When I saw Studio DIY‘s tutorial, I knew that was the costume for me. Although my Mom still thinks I should go as a chicken Fingers. My love for those is pretty much equal. Next Year! #maybe 2015-10-29_0008 My first stop.. Of course, Hobby Lobby. They know me by name. It’s kinda like an Senior Citizen going to McDonald’s every morning for coffee. They greet you with a friendly smile and say “Good Morning Mr. Evan” but instead it’s for craft supplies. I can’t wait to go back in an show Mrs. Debbie pictures. She’s gonna flip. 2015-10-29_0006 Of course I never do anything alone. There’s always a team of people or someone behind me making me look better than I am. I remember calling Kim (The Balloon Lady) and telling her I wanted to be French Fries for halloween and I need a few balloons… She said “okkkkkk…”. I could hear the hesitation in her voice, but as always she went along with my crazy idea. I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out! What do you think? 2015-10-29_0007 If you have a few minutes to spare and need a quick costume for tomorrow night I listed everything I used to make my costume below. It’s pretty self explanatory.

Cardboard | Red Duck Tape | Wide Yellow Grosgrain Ribbon (For Straps) |Red Spray Paint  | Box Cutter | Hot Glue Gun |Balloons

STEP 1: Cut four pieces of cardboard to use for the fry box container. I made a front, back and two sides,  Spray paint both side red and allow them to dry according to the directions on the can.

Step 2:  Hot glue one side piece to the back panel of the fry container. Make sure you run line of hot glue down the side of the back pieces and place the side piece of the container on top. Add glue to the inside seam to secure it. I reenforced with duck tape (red duck tape). Repeat on the opposite side.

Step 3: Glue the front piece to the sides. It will certainly help to have an extra set of hands. (Thanks Mom!) You’ll want to make sure you step into the fry container to measure and mark strap placement according.

Step 4: It’s time to add your fries! As you can tell from the photos, we used balloons. 3 different sizes. You can pick them up at your local party supply store or call “The Balloon Lady”.  Make sure you grab a balloon pump too or you’ve pass out. 😉 We used rubber cement glue and duck tape to hold them in place. Add as many balloons as your french fry eating heart desires.

Step 5: Rock your French Fry costume proudly.  2015-10-29_0003

A HUGE THANK YOU to Kim B. from for coming to the studio on her day off to shoot my costume. She’s one of my biggest cheerleaders and I am forever grateful for her and all she does for me. LOVE YOU Kimmy!

We’ll Miss You Sharon

Sharon, Oh Sharon. What are we going to do without you!?

Yup folks, you heard right. She’s leaving. Well, she’s actually officially gone. She celebrated our 50th wedding with us this past weekend and went out with a bang. She will never forget her last wedding at Evan and Company, it was 100 degrees, literally.  2015-06-14_0008 My name may be on the t-shirts and van, but it’s gals like Sharon that really make Evan and Company a success. Sharon has been with me since day one. From photo shoots, weddings and everything in between I don’t know what I would’ve done these last 2 years without her. 2015-06-14_0002 Sharon and her husband are moving back “home” to Headland, Alabama. Both of their Mothers are facing some health setbacks and they mutually felt it was time for them to be closer. I tried to talk her oldest daughter into having a kiddo so they would be more inclined to stay in Montgomery. It didn’t work.  2015-06-14_0005 2015-06-14_0004 Shar-bear (that’s what we call her around the office. You can thank Chandler for that one!) has truly been like a 2nd Mom to not only me, but everyone on our team. Though we don’t always listen, it doesn’t stop Momma Sharon. Her brain is packed with cheesy jokes, heartfelt words and a wealth of wisdom.  2015-06-14_0003 We’ve shared lots of memories with Sharon but one of my most favorite moments…. 2015-06-14_0009 Our team photo shoot with Aubrie. It’s not everyday a gal gets professional hair and makeup. You should’ve have seen her getting all glammed up, you would’ve thought she was going to prom. 2015-06-14_0007

I never imagined that I would cross paths with an individual like Sharon, but I’m certainly glad they did.

Thank you for everything you do in helping me fulfill my dreams in life. I couldn’t do what I do without strong team players like you. You inspire me to keep going, push me to be creative and yell at me when I book 3 weddings in 1 weekend but I wouldn’t change it one bit. You will be missed tremendously but of course not forgotten. Answer your phone when I call to talk. 😉

Love You!
