DIY Valentines Day Banner

Everyone loves a good craft, right? With Valentines Day right around the corner I couldn’t help but jazz up the office now that all of the Christmas Decorations are down. I hopped in the car and headed to Hobby Lobby. I have the PERFECT spot above the sofa to hang art, so I decided on some fun pennant “Banners”.

For this project you’ll need a few things: Buttons | Wood Letters | Red Glitter | Hot Glue Gun | Ribbon | Paint Brush | Heart Stencil

2014-01-13_0001 The heart shaped stencil I bought came on a large sheet with multiple sizes so, I cut it down to fit perfectly in the center of the pennant. Once you have the stencil positioned, use your paint brush to spread the glue evenly inside the heart. The fun part comes next. Once you’ve applied the glue, remove the stencil and pour the glitter over the heart shaped glue outline.

2014-01-13_0002 After the glue has dried you can then apply the buttons in the center of each heart. I used different colors and sizes. Once that’s settled , I then attached each pennant to the ribbon with a hot glue gun. (We chose pink and white stripe, but of course you can use whatever you have.) 2014-01-13_0005 For the “L.O.V.E” banner, I used the same technique—use the paint brush to apply the glue and then pour the glitter over each letter. Super simple. Then I used a stapler to attach each letter to the ribbon.

2014-01-13_0004 2014-01-13_0003 I think it hangs perfectly above the sofa– We had some visitors in yesterday afternoon and they complimented on festive it was. These easy banners would be perfect for a Mantle, kitchen, or even your foyer entry way.  Or if you’re a teacher it’d be a great way to jazz up your classroom. Oh, the possibilities! Have Fun with it!  2014-01-13_0006  Be sure to use the hashtag #evangcooperdotcom if you attempt these Valentines Day Banners! I’d LOVE to see! Happy Crafting! 😉
