Evan Cooper's Blog bio picture

Hi! I am a photographer from Montgomery, Alabama, where I shoot children, seniors, and weddings. This is where I will blog about my Life, my Journeys, my Thoughts, and my Photographs.

I love my life. The most important thing in my life is my relationship with God. I have incredible friends and family. I cherish every moment I get to spend with them. I like design. I love to be creative. I like to create something from nothing. I express myself through design and creativity. I exercise, well I used to. I like to swim. I tried to play tennis. I love to make people laugh. I hate cutting grass. Chicken fingers are my favorite. I can't live without cheez-its. I love my parents. I can't wait to get married. Africa was Amazing. I want to visit Australia. My mom gave away my all time favorite beach towel. I love my grandparents. I pray daily. My sister is an amazing artist. Snowball my dog is getting old. Sydney my cat makes me sneeze. I love music. Rap I don't get. Country bores me. But everything else, is for me. I love movies. At home. Theaters cost too much. 9.50 to be exact.

Thanks for showing interest in my words, work, and where life takes me. Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know you were here.

Dude Looks Like a Lady

A couple of weeks back Evan & Company was asked to be apart of a HILARIOUS event– Dude Looks Like a Lady. It was a women-less beauty pageant to raise money for the Joy to Life Foundation. We had a fantastic time pulling together the staging for this event, and even the winner Bouquet. Below are just a few pictures from Erika Tracy. Congrats to Miss Lady Dude 2012, Sissy Audubon. The event help team Hello Gorgeous reach their gold of $5,000.00

Southern Bridal Faire

Back in February my partner in Crime – Aubrie Moates and I put on our FIRST EVER Bridal Faire. The Idea bloomed back a couple of years ago. After many conversations, text messages, and meetings we finally gained the courage to give it a try. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, we knew we wanted to create and event for local Brides to come and gain inspiration and visit with the TOP vendors in our area. Once we announced the Southern Bridal Faire we had OVER 40 vendors on board to help make this event a HUGE success. It was more than we could have ever dreamed of. I remember just minutes before the show started, I went outside to check on something and freaked out. Why?? Because the line was wrapped around the building. I ran inside and banged on the Bathroom door and yelled for Aubrie to come out so I could show her the picture I had taken on my phone. We gave each other the BIGGEST hug. It was a moment of true accomplishment.

Below is a spread that RSVP-Montgomery Magazine (2012 Southern Bridal Faire Sponsor) featured in a recent issue. Also, you know wherever I am, so is my iPhone. There are a couple of shots I took with my phone throughout the day. Thanks again to all of our sponsors and the Incredible team we had to help pull this event off. We are already planning and looking forward to next year.

Breckinridge, Colorado

I know, Im really late in this post, but I just had to. If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram you know that back in March I took a much needed 3 week vacation after my sisters wedding. (Yes! I hoped on a plane the day after her wedding. Talk about exhausted.) I went with some family friends, that are seriously like my second family– The Allen’s.  What better place to go when a little R & R is needed– the Mountains. We spent our time away from Alabama in Breckenridge, Co. Let me tell you, it was FANTASTIC. Who wouldn’t want to take private jet, and fly to Colorado and spend 3 weeks without a care in the world??

Though, as most of you know, one of the main reason we took a 3 week trip was because of friend, Jacob has Muscular Dystrophy, and skiing is one of the only sports that he can still participate in. It was such a joy to watch Jacob do something that he enjoyed so much. We had a blast skiing together, all the blue runs I mastered (ok, it was only like 3. But still, I DID IT!!). We took a trip into Denver one day. We visited the Zoo, we had a lovely dinner and most importantly we went to Gun Smoke, (ya know they store that the Hit Discovery Channel Show American Guns is based off of.) I honestly don’t think I have ever eaten so much in my life. I know lots of fantastic restaurants to choose from if you ever take a visit. ;) I have posted several pictures below from my iPhone. I’m a horrible “photographer” and didn’t take a good camera, but you know what they say, ‘The best camera is the one you always have with out.”  Enjoy!

I certainly have a “Criminal Minds” moment when I ride in Mr. Jim’s plane.

The scenery and the mountains are just beautiful.

Me and Mrs. Susan tore up the slopes this year. and, Jacob had a great time too.

My uber talented Ski Instructor Kevin. He was FANTASTIC.

it’s tradition that we stop at Denver’s oldest restaurant on our way into Breck.

Some of the most yummy food I’ve ever put in my mouth. Bully Ranch was my absolute FAVORITE!! So yummy!

2012-05-01_030

Doesn’t it just look delicious??? Cookies, doughnuts, strawberry desserts, and the best hamburger EVER!!

2012-05-01_031

Friends forever. So thankful they asked to to tag along again. So much fun!

2012-05-01_032

On our day off we visited Gunsmoke and the Denver Zoo. It was certainly an adventure. I drove. In Denver traffic. It was SCRAY.

2012-05-01_033

The skyline is just so beautiful. We got to stare at that for 3 weeks.

2012-05-01_034

This is pretty much sums up our trip. Cold weather and my iPhone.

2012-05-01_035

I’m a pro skier these days– so much they asked me to come teach the little kiddos next winter. Ok I’m just kidding.

2012-05-01_036

My suitcase is packed. YES!! Those are all my bags. Thank goodness we didn’t have to pay for extra bags. They even washed the windows on the plane for us at the airport.

My true celebrity moment. A private plane and I got to fly it. SO Fun!!

RSVP Montgomery Magazine March/ April Issue 2011

I had the wonderful pleasure of working with RSVP Montgomery Magazine and Aubrie Moates on this Men’s Fashion Feature for the March/ April Issue. It was inspired by a Backyard BBQ… and I think it turned out phenomenal. Such a fun afternoon. And best of all of the guys outfits are from local shops in the River Region area.

Guatemala [35mm Film]

You may remember a post several months back with my  iPhone pictures from Guatemala… As most of you now, I spent a couple of weeks in there last summer. It was truly a life-changing trip. I have never been to a country that was so hungry for a move of God like Guatemala was. I met so many wonderful people there, made TONS and TONS of memories.

In the rush of life and everyday tasks, I totally forgot to post actual photos from my trip. I work with some of the most incredibly talented photographers in town, and when my boss Josh told me that I should order a film camera and take with me to Guatemala I knew I had too. The images below are ALL Film shots. YES!! Film. Ya, know the 35mm stuff. There is just something about film. The colors, the emotion, and the look of it. I LOVE it. Thanks to Josh’s lab Indie Film Lab for the fantastic scans.

Erika Tracy [Baby Shower]

For those of you who do not know, Erika is a co-worker of mine at KBP. What can I say– I would do anything for her. I was beyond thrilled when she told us that Her and John were expecting and of course my head starts turning ideas for her baby shower. I had 9 months to prepare and I feel like we pulled it off pretty darn well. Below are some photos of the Baby Boy themed shower we pulled off several weeks back.

I am happy to report that Baby Thomas is doing well, and is the most adorable kiddo. He has a head full of hair like his Uncle Evan. ;)

Carley Miller [Montgomery, AL Bridal Photographer]

I have known Carley FOREVER! Like, I said in a previous post I remember running around in Clown Costumes together in Children’s Church. Carley got Married this past weekend and I couldn’t be happier for her and Brian. Knowing her for so long, I think it was only fitting that I took her Bridal Portraits. Below is just a peek at a few of my favorites.

Best wishes to you and Brian as you start a new Journey in life.
