I’m coming up for air..

Oh My Word! I feel like I have left you guys hanging FOREVER! It’s been quite a while since I blogged last. Between weddings, 1st Birthdays, Vacation and more Weddings I haven’t been able to come up for air until now, and that’s only because I am in the car headed to Troy, Alabama for a wedding this weekend. Chandler is Driving, I promise I’m not doing anything Dangerous! 😉 Over the last 2 months its been nothing but full steam ahead….

Before I left town for vacation I had the pleasure of working with the SWEETEST family you will ever meet! Ivey (The Bride) and her  Mother Mrs. Donna were literally the type of clients every wedding planner dreams about. The planning process was nothing but smooth sailing. Ivey and Klein said “I do” on May 17th at First Baptist in Troy, Alabama. They couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was great and Everything was stunning. Below are a few iPhone from their big day! I can’t wait to see the “real” photos. Hurry up ERT!  2014-06-19_0003 After Ivey and Klein’s wedding, I hopped on a plane and headed to Sarasota, Fl for 2 1/2 weeks. I know, I know it’s a LONG time for Vacation but I knew If I didn’t take it, I would regret it come July when everything pics up again. I had never been to Disney and that was my ONLY request while away. The Rumors are TRUE, It is the Happiest Place on Earth. I wasn’t leaving that Park until I saw my girlfriend, Belle. And of course Mickey and Minnie too! After all it started with a Mouse.  2014-06-19_0006 There were people everywhere, A bottle of soda was $5.75, Balloons were $8.00 but it was worth EVERY penny. We had the best time!  Oh and Soarin’ is pretty sweet too! While away we spent most of our days on the beach, eating, the Tampa Bay Rays game, eating and MORE EATING. I am so grateful to my sweet friends Mrs. Susan, Mr. Jim and Jacob for allowing me to spend my vacation with them. I’m ready for October. Disney World at Halloween, right? LET’S DO IT! Thanks again, I LOVE you guys!   2014-06-19_0005 While away on Vacation I wasn’t able to attend the 1st Birthday party I helped my sweet friend Aubrie plan for her son, so I sent Jonny instead and OH MY LANTA, that was one heck of a party! Isn’t his cake from Ligers Bakery the Cutest? Aubrie missed her calling as a party planner. I keep telling her to come work with me!  2014-06-19_0004 I came back from Vacation on a Wednesday and rushed into wedding Prep for Rachel and Luke’s Big Day the next day! 75 Bundles of Babies Breath, 300 Roses and a sequin gold table linen– It was one heck of a shindig.  The BIGGEST challenge: Transforming the ballroom at the Montgomery Country club into a glamorous wedding reception. I think we succeeded, The Bride cried when she walked into the ballroom. It made this wedding planner smile from ear to ear. HUGE thanks to Adam w/ Special Event Lighting. 2014-06-19_0001 After a busy wedding weekend, I headed to Mobile for a quick trip with my boy AGB. It was a nice little quick get a way. When we’re together we always find away to get into trouble! AND I couldn’t be in Mobile without stopping and seeing my sweet, sweet friends The Goodes. We had a wonderful patio dinner filled with laughs and yummy food. When headed to see friends you haven’t seen in awhile, ALWAYS take a gift. So what better way to say “it’s been a while” than cookies with your face on them. His little ones thought it was the coolest thing ever! #pointsformrevan.  My favorite quote of the night was when we left dinner and got back in the car Andrew said, “Well that conversation was all about you”. I tried to warm him, we were playing catch up! All of my Facebook and Twitter friends kept telling me we had to eat at “A Spot of Tea” downtown mobile. I’ll be honest when I walked in i wanted to walk out. As Rachel said, “It’s from the 70’s”, but Lord have mercy the food was yummy so it totally made up for it. We stayed at the ever so swanky Battle House Hotel, the bathroom was bigger than my bedroom at home! All in all it was a great weekend. Andrew, let’s go to Nashville next!  2014-06-19_0002 It’s been non-stop but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. If you would’ve asked me 2 years ago If I thought I would be where I am today, I would’ve told you No. It’s crazy how God works. So blessed to be doing what I love and sharing it when my family and friends.  Thanks for reading, off to finished prepping for this weekends #sowellwedding2014. The Super Market Bunch

It’s Wednesday, they day some of you have been waiting for… it’s that middle of the week slump– You can do it! Hang in there. Friday is a comin’.  In honor of  the middle of the week slump we wanted something that would brighten your day—Flowers! Yup! You heard me! Not just any flowers though, Super Market Flowers.

If you follow me on Social Media sites, you probably saw the Instagram photo I posted that was captioned, “No, I haven’t lost my mind just working on a blog post with flowers from the supermarket– a place everyone has access to.” The caption says it perfectly, and that’s exactly what we are doing. I get so many emails and messages from people saying, “I don’t have access to a wholesale house” or “Our City doesn’t have a flower market”. So we wanted to show you guys that it’s not about where the flowers come from, it’s about what you do with them.  We’re calling this post “The Super Market Bunch” Enjoy!

This is the bunch we picked up from the Super Market . Most folks do exactly what we did here, Unwrap the bunch of flowers and stick them in a vase. But if you want to really take your Super Market Bunch to the next level, follow each of the steps below. You won’t be disappointed. *Photos by my friend Nick at Nick Drollette Photography

First, there a few basics you want to keep in mind when purchasing your bunch. Make sure you pick a bunch that has several types of flowers, some greenery,  and possibly a filler.

In prepping for  your arrangement you want to make sure that you cut your stems at an angle and remember to remove all of the lower leaves on the stems so that they do not rot under wanted.

The key to a full arrangement – make a grid on top of the vase. I used oasis water proof tape, but regular scotch tape will work perfectly (make sure the edges of your vase are dry if you are using scotch tape).

Once you’ve taped off your vase you can now start the fun part—I always begin with greening my arrangements first.

After you’ve greened your vase you will then want to add you “focal flowers”. A focal flower is your larger flower and typically a more dominate one. In our case the tiger lilies are the largest.

Once the focal flower(s) has been added to your arrangement you can then start adding your secondary flowers. Mums, alstroemeria, carnations, and cushion mums are a few that came in our bunch.

Now that you’ve added all of your secondary flowers, go back through your arrangement and fill in any holes you may see with either some sort of filler or extra greenery that you may have had left over.  Feel free to clip a few stems from your yard for extra filler  if  needed.

And that my friends is it. It’s that easy! Anyone can do it!

Tasty Tuesday: Strawberry Nutella Poptarts

If you know me personally you know that I’m addicted to Nutella. It’s a comfort food to me. It ranks right on up there with Chicken Fingers and Cheez Its. I recently came across a recipe on Pinterest and had to try it the minute I saw “Nutella” in the caption.  I do not profess to be a chef, just an occasional baker and let me tell you, I’ll leave that to the professionals. The kitchen was a mess, I started over 4 times, I forgot a step… the list goes on and on.  Below is my successful (at least that’s what Mom and Dad said when they tasted the poptarts) attempt at Strawberry Nutella Poptarts.

To start things off you want to make sure you have all the ingredients. For this recipe you will need: 1 egg yolk | 1 teaspoon water | 1 package refrigerated pie crust | 1 teaspoon of Nutella (per poptart) | 1 teaspoon strawberry jelly (per poptart) | 2 large strawberries, sliced lengthwise and carved into hearts | coarse sugar (or granulated sugar)

First, Preheat oven to 350°F and cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, whisk together egg yolk and 1 teaspoon water. Set aside.

Roll out pie crust till it’s pretty thin (about 1/16th of an inch thick). Cut into 2.5 inch x 3.5 inch rectangles, re-rolling the dough as needed. Depending on how many poptarts you are making will depend on the amount of rectangles you will end up with.

Take 2 of the rectangles and cut out a heart in the center, using the strawberries carved into hearts as a guide. Set aside.

On the other side of the  remaining rectangle, spread 1  teaspoon of Nutella, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges. Then top the Nutella with a layer of strawberry jam, again making sure to leave a 1/2 inch border.

Place a strawberry carved heart on top of the strawberry jam layer, in the center of the rectangle. Top with the pie dough with the heart carved out of the center. Seal the edges with the prongs of a fork and brush with egg wash mixture. Sprinkle heavily with coarse sugar.

Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until golden brown. Transfer to a cooling rack. Let cool for 5 minutes and then serve!

I couldn’t let Mom and Dad try them and me not get a bite. I have to admit they are VERY tasty and possibly addictive. I will most certainly be making these again very soon! Nautical Inspired

It seems like it was just yesterday I was walking in the RSVP offices to discuss the Wedding Issue of the Magazine.  It released a few weeks back and has literally flown off newsstands here in town. This is one of my FAVORITE issues to work on with the girls. But of course weddings make us happy over here at Evan and Company.

This issue is packed with so much pretty it’s insane! Some of our favorite features include the Bridesmaid Diaries, Real Weddings, and The Gift Guide. But We’re a little partial to our 2 page Nautical Themed, Mock Wedding that was featured.

I remember going back and forth with Aubrie on what style wedding we were going to shoot. Literally hundreds of texts later we finally decided on the Nautical Theme. It was something that was fresh, new and different to the “Montgomery Bride”. I was away in Colorado at the time and I knew that I needed to call in re-enforcements. I had SO MUCH on my plate that it would’ve be nice to an extra set of hands and another creative brain–who better to call then my fantastic friend Rae of LeRae Events + Design. Putting us together was trouble, trouble, trouble. We couldn’t stop– EVERY LITTLE DETAIL. We wanted it to be perfect! We’re wedding designers, would you expect anything less?

Every time I prep for a shoot I go into it thinking that I am much more organized than the last, and every time I learn I AM NOT. Rae and I were literally busting our tails on shoot day. We had people running everywhere. Tables, chairs, china, flowers, cakes, food, bridesmaids, hair and makeup people, you name it—we had it. It was seriously like a real wedding, just less pressure. Well, in a sense.

After it was all said and done, we managed to pull it off. I couldn’t be happier with the images. They are perfect– can’t wait to add them to the site.  Thanks again to everyone who made this shoot happen. We had a HUGE team and again, we couldn’t have done it without you.  Big shout out toe Timmy, Michael and Hillary for hanging in there with us all day.
