Favorite Things 2014

Every time I think about “Favorite Things” this photo immediately pops into my head.  Oprah-Car-Giveaway-4 I remember watching that episode of “Oprah” just like it was yesterday. Mom and I looked at each other in shock and said, “OMG, She just gave everyone a car!”. Though Oprah is the queen of Favorite things, it’s always fun compiling my little list to share with you folks. There won’t be any Kate Spade Bags, Rolex Watches or refrigerators but I can assure you my Favorite Things aren’t just a random bunch of gifts I’ve selected and labeled “Favorite Things”. I couldn’t live without some of these products. Well , Ok, maybe I could, but you what I mean.  2014-12-03_0001 So over the course of 7 Days, I’ll be posting a different Favorite Thing each day and they could be yours! Who doesn’t love free goodies, right? 😉

Today’s giveaway… Chipotle. I don’t know what I did before they decided to open a franchise in Montgomery. I eat there once I week, at least. I don’t know what it is, but I LOVE it. That brown rice and chicken bowl gets me EVERY TIME. Oh and that guac.. THE BEST! No even lying. Of course since it’s one of my Favorite Things I had to share it with all of you. This Chipotle gift card is loaded with $15.00 ready for dinner. If you love Chipotle just as much as I do, follow the instructions below and it could be yours!  2014-12-03_0002 To Enter #evansfavoritethings it’s simple, all you have to do is Subscribe to my blog (on the right hand side of the blog homepage under the “Video” section, make sure you click the confirmation email or it doesn’t count ) AND then pop back on over here and leave a comment in the post. DIY Halloween Costumes

Can you believe halloween is exactly a week away? Where has this year gone?! I’m gonna need 2014 to slow down. In the spirt of the upcoming holiday my always willing assistant, Laura and I decided (well, I kind of made her) it would be fun to pull together some quick and simple DIY Halloween Costumes.

If you’re like us, we could honestly care less about the spooky holiday. But of course this is the only time of the year you have an excuse to go to a costume party. I recently came across and image online of an elaborate Ring Master and Giraffe costume, I LOVED it so much I figured we could dumb it down a bit and make is easy and simple of all you DIY’ers that are on tight budgets and crazy timelines.   2014-10-23_0003 Meet Georgetta the giraffe and RingMaster Bruno. 2014-10-23_0004 Laura had her yellow dress hanging in her closet, so the only addition we needed to complete her costume was this CRAZY AWESOME giraffe balloon “hat” from Kreative Moments. Can you guess how much it cost?!?!?! ONLY $5.00. That’s a steal of the deal and certainly not something anyone else is going to be wearing.

As for my costume, I had just about everything in my closet as well. The only thing I picked up was my blazer from discount store and the $6.00 top hat from Party City (I added the red ribbon accent). All in all the most expensive part of both costumes is the balloons in my hand and of course you wouldn’t necessarily need 17 of them, we just thought it added to the photo. 😉 By the time it was said and done, we spent $25.00 on BOTH costumes. I know, it’s cray cray!

We can’t wait to see all of the DIY costumes next week. If you’re making your own costume, BE SURE to use the hashtag #EGCDIY, we’d love to see what you come up with. We’ll be picking one lucky winner who will be a recipient of a $25.00 gift card to Hobby Lobby, a DIY’ers playground. Happy Costuming.

Shake it Off

Honestly blogging has been at the bottom of the list lately. Things have been crazy busy the last 2 months with no time for fun. But my FABULOUS assistant Laura and I decided it was time to change that. This video goes out to all the folks that need to SHAKE IT OFF! (Cheesy, I know!)

HAPPY TUESDAY!!

The Chapel Market

Ladies and Gentlemen, I come bearing some very exciting news! The Chapel Market—it’s a vintage goods market in Pike Road Alabama on October 19th.

The market will be held at what is technically called “The Meeting House” but most folks around here refer to it as “The Chapel.”

The chapel is a beautiful place.  We actually did a wedding there last October. It’s one of our favorite venues. Every little girl dreams about having their wedding in a little white chapel with a steeple. It host many other events, birthday parties, etc. But we are SUPER PUMPED that it will be the home of the FIRST EVER Chapel Market.

There are some REALLY, REALLY big names that will be at the Chapel. Be sure to head on over and read Layla’s post for a complete profile on each vendor that will be at #TheChapelMarket.

I am so thrilled that she not only asked me to help plan the event, but offered me a booth space. We will be selling fresh flowers. Fun bouquets like you would find at the famers market or on the downtown streets of a big city. The chapel is going to smell heavenly.  😉

Since there will be so many folks coming from out of town, we wanted to be sure and include some near by hotels. All of these are just off I-85 in (east) Montgomery, Alabama- approximately 15 minutes from the market:

I’ve personally never stayed at any of them, but know people who have and would recommend any of them. They are all newly built and in pristine condition. There’s tons of shopping and eateries in the same area.

We are so excited about the Market. We seriously can’t wait for October to get here. Be on the look out for and update this week on Layla’s Blog, you might see a familiar face. 😉 Happy Friday!

Oh and don’t forget—the official hashtag for the market is: #TheChapelMark
